I dedicate this book to the memory of my two grandfathers, Dick1 and Wally2, from whom I no doubt inherited so many of my characteristics
1 Dick (Richard) Chapman: professional footballer for Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Stalybridge Celtic and Clapton (Leyton) Orient; who was also a lover of the visual and performing arts.
2 Wally (Walter) Newell: by all accounts a ‘first edition’, but who had a great affinity to plants and animals.
