11.16. Summary

UDDI provides a catalog of Web service interfaces and implementations that can be searched and manipulated via SOAP messages. Using UDDI, you can create Web service clients that dynamically locate Web services at runtime and implement many scenarios that require a centralized Web services catalog. While UDDI is not required for building or consuming Web services, there are many scenarios where applications can benefit from using UDDI.
