5.2. Exposing Web Services

From a business standpoint, there are great benefits to be gained by exposing existing COM-based server components as Web services. The most obvious benefit is easier integration with other platforms. As explained in Chapter 1, most business functions today span multiple supporting applications running on several platforms. Integrating these applications can improve the overall business process by removing or reducing some of the seams and gaps in existing solutions.
