Saving to PDF

As always, consult your print service provider or publication for the correct specifications before you submit a PDF file. Make sure you know the version of PDF they will accept and whether they allow live transparency in a PDF, or whether it must be flattened.

If your printer or publication has provided specifications or settings, of course you should use them. But you’ll find that some printers and publications still leave it up to you—“just send us a nice PDF”—and then you’re on your own.
