Saving for Other Applications
The old recommendations to save as TIFF or EPS were solid in their day, and you still can’t go wrong by adhering to the old ways. However, native, layered Photoshop files (PSD) offer appealing features such as transparency, editable vector elements, and nondestructive color corrections. InDesign allows you to control the visibility of placed, layered, native Photoshop files (but not TIFFs). TIFF files can contain layers, but offer no support for vector elements, so Photoshop PSDs and PDFs trump TIFF files for flexibility.
