I shoplifted a toy gun when I was younger. Five years ago. No, actually, I was nine years old, which would make the year 1965. I had not made a young career out of stealing and I knew it was wrong. Yet, I didn’t have the seven dollars to buy this incredible object of my desire. It was a product of my favorite television show, The Wild Wild West—a simulated gold, tiny metal gun that popped out of its fitted belt buckle to fire caps.
