11. Control Character Entry

Character entry? Isn’t that what we used to call “typing”? Yes, but how can you “type” characters that may (or may not) be accessible from your keyboard—assuming you can even find the one you want out of the many hundreds packed into every font?

Luckily, you don’t have to learn the myriad of text-entry options Mac OS X provides if you have a few targeted needs. Start with Turn On the Tools (next page) so you have Keyboard Viewer and Character Palette at your beck and call, and then check the information you need:
