Controlling Color Temperature
“White” light sources actually have distinct tints, or color temperatures, which lighting technicians measure in degrees Kelvin (ºK).
COLOR TEMPERATURE: Tint of white light, measured in degrees on the Kelvin scale (ºK).
Using a combination of light sources, all with different tints, is called mixed lighting. This is typical of most real-world shooting, which is why it's a challenge to achieve color balance—adjusting the tints of the various light sources so colors look natural and pleasing.
