Project 2: Alley Man

This project was conceived with the idea of mixing creative lighting techniques and Lens Blur techniques to create an image that had the feel both of a real street scene and of a scene in miniature—almost as if you were looking at a movie set. This project had only two source images, and most of the work revolved around creating accurate masks for the various light sources and drop-off points for the blurring effects. I also spent some time working on the man’s shadow so that it fit the time of night and light sources. Don’t worry, though; if you meet this cat in the alley, he’s harmless!—Scott
