I have been both pleased and gratified by the success of the first edition of Real-Time UML: Developing Efficient Objects for Embedded Systems. I think the popularity of the first edition is due to both its timeliness and appropriateness of object technology (in general) and the UML (in particular) to the development of real-time and embedded systems. At the time of the publication of the first edition, it was clear that the UML would be a major force in the development of object-oriented systems.
