The classroom as a medium for training and development may well have had its day. That isn’t to suggest that training is on the wane. On the contrary, U.S. companies spend in excess of $160 billion per year on training and development (ASTD 2013). Companies are increasingly turning to online training; the e-learning market is growing at a rate of 23 percent per year, with the fastest growth happening in the education sector (IBIS Capital 2012).
