PiCam and PiNoIR

The Raspberry Pi PiCam or PiNoIR (the same camera with no infrared filter) connects to the MIPI Camera Serial Interface. While there is only a single connector on the Pi B+ motherboard, a future update could include multiple cameras with a plug-on daughterboard.

There are some limitations with the PiCam. The restricted length of the interface cable means that you need to mount the camera and Pi close together. This restriction tends to limit the size and flexibility of the camera head. We rate the performance of the PiCam very highly. If you need to capture high-resolution and/or high-frame-rate videos, there is currently no better solution for the Pi.
