8.11. PACKET ALIGNMENT

Figure 8.15 shows the byte transmission ordering on a port through time for a small transport format FTYPE 2 packet. Note that for this example the two bytes following the CRC would indicate some form of packet termination such as a new packet or an eop.

Figure 8.16 shows the same packet transmitted over a 16-bit port.

Figure 8.17 shows the same example again, but with the large transport format over the 8-bit port. Note that for this example the two bytes following the CRC of the packet are all logic 0 pads.

The packet example in Figure 8.18 is the same as for Figure 8.17, but over the 16-bit port.
