Some program directors actually prefer automation because it means that they always have a completely obedient “airstaff.” In fact, many radio stations are virtually one-person operations. Other program directors prefer to hire “liner card readers” of limited talent because they are very compliant and easy to work with.
It is harder to deal with talented people. They tend to have intelligence and minds of their own.
