A series of advertisements for a well-known project scheduling tool provide a fascinating insight into the state-of-the-art of project management.

One of the ads shows a person, alone, in a high-tech, darkened room with a wall of 20 terminals displaying various outputs from the project management software. The project manager is saying “Excellent.” Clearly, the project is going fine, thanks, in part, to the scheduling tool.

Never confuse the map with the journey.

To our group, this ad could not be further from the truth ...
