Tracking Job Costs

To see the costs assigned or allocated to a project, use the Job, Time & Mileage Reports, which are available when you choose Reports⇒Jobs, Time & Mileage. You can experiment with the different reports to see which provides the information in a format and at a level of detail that works best for you. For example, if you’re invoicing customers by job and collecting cost data by customer and job, you can produce great job-profitability reports that show what you’ve made by job. Also note that you can budget amounts by customer and job (using the same budgeting technique described in Chapter 12). If you do the extra work of budgeting by customer job, you can also compare actual job revenues and costs with budgeted job revenues and costs.
