ACTIVITY (OR TASK OR JOB)

An activity or task or job is any portion of a project which consumes time or resources and has a definable beginning and ending. For example, "laying of foundation of a building is an activity which requires the use of resources. In network an activity is represented by an arrow which may be straight or bent but not broken. An activity must commence from some event. It may be noted that no activity can start untill all previous activities in the same chain are completed.

Predecessor Activities – The activities which immediately come before another activity without any intervening activities are predecessor activities.
