Adding an AJAX POST request in jQuery

Now before we start, let me say that at the time of writing, I am in no way a JavaScript expert. My expertise lie more in back-end programming than front-end. That being said, if you have worked in web development for more than 10 minutes, then you know that trying to avoid JavaScript is near impossible. At some point, we will probably have to dabble in some just to deliver a piece of work.

With that in mind, please do not be scared off!

The code you are about to read is something that I learned just by reading the jQuery documentation, so it's extremely simple. If you are comfortable with front-end code then I'm sure there are probably a million different and probably better ways to do this in JavaScript, ...
