Introduction

Python is an object-oriented scripting language commonly used for both stand-alone programs and scripting applications in a wide variety of domains. This pocket reference summarizes Python statements and types, built-in functions, commonly used library modules, and other prominent Python language features.

This reference covers Python release 1.5.1 and later. Most of it applies to earlier releases as well, with the exception of recent language extensions.
