In this chapter, we will look at how Python programs can create great-looking maps using the Mapnik library. You will install Mapnik onto your computer, learn the basics of the Mapnik library, and see how you can use it to generate simple maps. We will then explore some of the more advanced aspects of Mapnik, and see how it can be used to produce a wide range of complex visual effects.
