Chapter 20. Interface Repository

The interface repository is a repository of meta-data for application IDL. Once an IDL file has been put into the interface repository, a complete description of all the definitions appearing in that IDL file becomes available to CORBA applications. This is a natural complement to the dynamic features of CORBA—the dynamic invocation interface (DII) and the dynamic skeleton interface (DSI). When using either the DII or the DSI, it is necessary for an application to find descriptions of IDL interfaces at runtime. This information can be retrieved at any time from the interface repository (assuming the definitions have been entered into the repository).
