Saving and Viewing Your E-Book File on Your E-Reader

After you’ve previewed your file in the Calibre e-book viewer (as described in the preceding section), you want to save it so that you can transfer it to your e-reader. In your Calibre library, click to select the name of the e-book and then follow these steps:

1. Click the Save to Disc button along the top of the screen.

The Choose Destination Directory dialog box opens.

2. Choose the folder where you want to save the files and then click the Select Folder button.

Calibre automatically creates a folder (your surname is listed first, followed by your first name, as specified in the Author Sort option) and saves your MOBI or EPUB file there. The new folder opens automatically onscreen.

3. Transfer the MOBI or EPUB file to your e-reader.

Your e-reader’s user guide or manual should have instructions for transferring a file to your device.

remember.eps Use MOBI for the Kindle, and use EPUB for any other reader.

4. Check your e-book for formatting issues.

Review the whole e-book, and make a note of anything you want to change. To fix problems, you need to edit and convert the file again.
