Setting the Rights and Pricing of Your E-Book

The second page of the form for adding a book — Rights & Pricing — is where you set your Publishing Territories and your price. Follow these steps to fill in the information on this page:

1. In the Verify Your Publishing Territories section, select the territories for which you hold rights.

Authors normally have worldwide rights to publish their e-books. If you’ve sold the rights to your material in one country, however, you need to select your rights by individual territories.

2. In the Choose Your Royalty section, select the royalty option for your e-book.

Select the 70 percent option if your e-book is priced between $2.99 and $9.99. In the List Price section, the first row of the table represents Amazon.com, and you enter the price of your e-book (in dollars). You can either set the other prices individually or let Amazon set them based on the Amazon.com price.

When you specify a price for your e-book, Amazon shows you the royalty amounts you’ll receive, as listed in the rightmost column of Figure 13-7.

You can read important information about pricing underneath the pricing table to see how Amazon sets its non-U.S. rates.
