Adding Headers and Footers

Headers and footers are useful if you’re producing a PDF e-book. They can be used to show the title of your e-book, your name, your website’s URL, or any other information you want to provide. It’s an especially good idea to put a page number in either the header or the footer.

You may already know how to insert a header or footer into a document. If you’ve never done so, however, follow these steps:

1. On the View tab, choose Print Layout in the Document Views group to change to Print Layout view.

2. Double-click in the white space above (or below) any page.

The header (or footer) appears.

tip.eps If the pages seem to run together (they have no blank space at the bottom or top) in Print Layout view, double-click the gray line that separates the pages. The blank space then opens.

3. Type some text.

You see that the text now appears on every page.

If you prefer, you can also create a header or footer by choosing either Header or Footer in the Header & Footer group on the Insert tab.
