Amazon is the largest e-book retailer (in profit and e-book sales), selling 60 percent of all e-books globally in the first quarter of 2012. Although Smashwords (described in Chapter 14) has agreements with other sites, it has yet to begin distributing via Amazon, so if you want to sell your e-book from the Amazon site, you need to put it there yourself.

The good news is that Amazon has a relatively straightforward system for filling out information about your e-book and for uploading it — plus plenty of documentation and friendly community forums, where you can find help and support.
