Designing the Portal

When designing a portal you must consider both technical and organizational issues. We can frame portal design around four broad dimensions:

  1. Function

  2. Organization

  3. Information architecture

  4. Enterprise architecture

Much of the information needed to address the function and organization dimensions is discovered following the requirements gathering framework outlined above. We address the information architecture and enterprise architecture dimensions for the first time in the design step.
