Many organizations today are valued as much for their intellectual assets as their physical resources. Pharmaceutical, financial services, defense, and other research-intensive enterprises create value through research, development, and process refinement. Some, like Peter Drucker, have argued that the intellectual assets are the real basis of a company's value.
