Enterprise information portals (EIPs) have the potential to change the way we work but only if they are adopted by end users. Throughout this book we will see examples of flexible, integrated portal applications. Portal vendors and software developers provide us with the tools to deliver compelling applications based on the sound design principles discussed in earlier chapters. The success or failure of portal deployments also hinges on nontechnical issues. How well portal components are deployed to meet business objectives and how well they fit into users' ways of working are key factors in the ultimate success of a portal.
