The Microsoft .NET Architecture

The .NET architecture from Microsoft is centered on Web services. Like J2EE, .NET has clients, servers, and access to EISs. Unlike J2EE, there is not a single application server framework around which business applications are deployed. Instead, Microsoft offers a set of .NET Servers that meet particular needs. Microsoft's architecture is not tied to a single language like J2EE; developers are free to choose from many different programming languages when building .NET applications.
