Allowance, Issue, Correction, and Reissue of Patent

Once the patent application is found to be allowable, a notice of allowance is sent to the applicant (or its attorney or agent), and a fee for issuing the patent is due within three months from the date of the notice of allowance. At present, the issue fee for utility patents is $1,240 ($620 for small entities). If the fee is not paid in time, the application is considered abandoned unless delay is unavoidable or unintentional.
