Filing the Application

After the application is completed it should be filed with the filing fee of $30 and deposit copies of the work.

Deposit Material

The Copyright Office requires a nonreturnable deposit of the work being registered. If the work is unpublished (meaning that it has not been distributed or offered to the public by sale or lease), one complete copy is sufficient. If the work has been published, two complete copies of the best edition of the work are required. For published books, two copies of the manuscript or finished text usually are submitted.
