I owe much of this book to some key influences in my thinking about project management and to a number of others who provided encouragement and suggestions as the book progressed. First of all, I want to thank Lou Russell, chief executive officer of Russell Martin & Associates, who has been a mentor and colleague throughout the past decade. Second, many of the concepts about iterative cyclical delivery of projects come from Jim Highsmith, whose groundbreaking book Adaptive Software Development showed how to create software products using iterative cycles and collaborative teams with close customer involvement.
