Why E-Learning?

William Horton’s straightforward definition of e-learning says it all: “E-learning is the use of Web and Internet technologies to create experiences that educate our fellow human beings” (Horton, 2001a). Notice the broad scope of this definition, especially if you originally thought that e-learning only referred to educating the employees within your organization. Your first e-learning ventures may very well target an internal audience, but don’t be surprised if you’re soon in the business of educating business partners, suppliers, and customers through e-learning!
