8.6 Project support office

Within all projects there are many routine clerical activities which have to be performed regularly, effectively and efficiently. Many of them fall within the remit of the project manager. However, given their routine nature and the pressures on project managers, it is usually more effective to delegate these tasks to others. This gives rise to the creation of what has become known as the project support office (PSO).

The organizational structure that has been described above is usually set up for a specific project. This means that the project board and project manager are appointed for a single project.
