5.6 Quality plan

The production of a quality plan is vital to the success of a project. It specifies the particular standards that apply to the project. They could be existing standards, defining the content and layout of product descriptions, for example; modifications to existing standards because of some variation specific to the current project; or completely new, as the project goes into territory not previously explored. The standards may derive from industry standards or be developed internally. Normally most standards come from existing processes and procedures in the company. If not, then an early task of the project manager is to ensure that the standards are specified.
