Chapter 4

Planning and Scheduling

Abstract

This chapter covers the core planning steps of a project, which are vital for its success. Creating a plan is the first task you should do when undertaking any project. Often planning is ignored in favor of starting the work. However, project planning saves time and money, and avoids many other problems. Planning procedures include the process of building a project schedule; time-estimating guidelines and methods; scheduling techniques; and critical path and other scheduling concepts. These are discussed in the chapter.
