Evaluate Alternatives

Note that in the fictional case example, a decision was made to use instructorled delivery before the project began. Although this is not the optimum time to make such a decision, it is common. If possible, it is better to make the delivery decision later and to base it on the objectives, scope, risk, and constraints.

Typical modes for delivering learning events include the following:

  • Instructor-led learning

  • Self-paced, paper-based learning

  • Self-paced, computer or Web-based learning

  • Self-paced, video-based learning

  • Self-paced, audiotape based learning

  • Combination learning: self-paced with sharing over the Web or in person

  • Simulation or practicum (for example, learning games).
