An Outline of a Crisis Communications Plan—That Works

Introduction

Most corporations, especially large companies, expect a crisis, but have no plans to deal with one. A recent crisis communications conference in Washington DC revealed that 95% of CEOs fully anticipate an eventual crisis at their companies, and yet less than half have a plan to respond. Of those who do have crisis plans, many are unwieldy, unrealistic, or out of date.

  1. Immediately train in media communications, that is, talking to the press, TV, and other media, a project manager for at least one key executive.
