Appendix C. Microsoft SMTP Service

The Microsoft SMTP Service is an e-mail transport server that allows you to send e-mail over the SMTP protocol. Microsoft SMTP Service is available on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 as used in this book for demonstration purposes. As long as you own a valid license for one of these products, you can install the Microsoft SMTP Service by following the instructions in this appendix.

For Windows Server 2003, follow these steps to install the Microsoft SMTP Service:
