ABI: Application binary interface; a low-level interface between computer programs that allows for direct access at the binary level.

Accelerometer: Sensor used to provide information about the G-forces affecting a device along its x-, y-, and z-axes.

ActiveX: Software framework developed to deliver COM over networks, most often the Internet.

Adapter: Software pattern to translate one interface to an API to another, to solve the problem of connecting incompatible APIs.

Animation: In Windows Store apps, an animation refers to transitions between elements and other components of the page; similar to transitions between slides in a PowerPoint presentation.
