Designing the App

We have a few goals in creating this app. At the highest level, of course, we want to get some experience integrating Pd into native apps. We also want to think a bit about good sound design for an app.

One of the best examples of good sound design from a recent app is Clear,[29] a task-management app for iOS, with sound design by Josh Mobley.[30] It follows good sound-design principles. It doesn’t have a sound effect for everything just for the sake of having a sound effect; most of the effects serve a purpose. It uses sound effects to do more than just tell users when they’ve clicked a button or interacted with the app; it uses sound to emotionally engage users and to encourage them to use the app to achieve their goals. ...
