Synthesizing Other Geometric Waves
Although lots of different waves could be generated using the sinesum technique or other techniques, let’s generate some other geometric waves beside the sine wave. Geometric waves are basically waves with a geometric shape. We’ll generate a sawtooth wave, a square wave, and a triangle wave, which any musicians interested in synthesizers will recognize easily. The following sections will show you how to reproduce these waves.
Sawtooth Wave
The sawtooth wave, sometimes called a ramp wave, is an interesting contrast to the sine wave. Whereas the sine wave is a pure tone consisting of only the fundamental frequency, the sawtooth wave is a very harmonically rich wave.
