A Toast!

For the next example we’ll spend some time analyzing a recorded sound and then building a reproduction of it. In the sample-code download directory, in the sound subdirectory there is a file called Knife-on-wineglass.wav. This is a recording of me striking the side of a crystal wineglass with a knife. Play it now a few times and try to describe what you hear.

This wineglass strike is a very distinctive sound. It could be used as the basis for a notification alert sound; as a sound effect in a restaurant scene; or wherever a piercing, striking, bell-like tone would work.
