Merge Replication

You might think of Merge Replication as a technology primarily used for replication and disaster recovery. While these are its more common uses, its replication capabilities make it a prime candidate for building the infrastructure of client applications that connect to the server only sporadically. Merge Replication provides several features that facilitate the synchronization process, including the ability to resolve data conflicts, control how often synchronization must occur, and clean up “stale” data.
