Designing a New NAV Application Functionality

Given the preceding top-down view how an NAV application works in general, let us now discuss how we should go about designing a modification. Our view once again will be data centred. At this point, we will only consider the design issues for new functionality. Our design process will presume that the overall goals for the new functionality have already been clearly and completely defined (the "big picture").

When one is designing a much more limited "tweak" modification, the design process is extremely dependent on exactly what is being done, and is very difficult to generalize. Some of the following will apply in such a case, but very selectively.
