System Requirements

You'll need the following hardware and software to build and run the code samples for this book:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1, or Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4.

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional or Standard Edition or Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Web Developer Express Edition.

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) is not strictly required, but it is helpful for testing sample applications in a realistic runtime environment.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (included with Visual Studio 2008) or Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
