jabber:iq:conference
The Conferencing service provides facilities for entities to join rooms
and chat with each other. The entry negotiations that take
place between a room (via the service) and a potential participant are
made using the jabber:iq:conference
namespace. With
this namespace, information on rooms can be requested, and attempts to
enter rooms can be made.
Warning
The jabber:iq:conference
namespace is currently
in a state of flux, as more conferencing features (such as being able
to eject users from rooms) are requested and added into the definition.
Because of this, the examples that follow are deliberately innocuous.
The keyassist recipe in
Section 9.1 in Chapter 9 describes and uses the older, but
stable, conferencing protocol called “Groupchat.”
