Chapter 10. Networking

Networking allows computer programs to communicate with each other, even if they are running on different machines. For programs such as web browsers, this is the essence of what they do, whereas for others networking adds additional dimensions to their functionality, for example, remote operation or logging, or the ability to retrieve or supply data to other machines.
