Internet Information Services 7.0

In the same way that Windows 95 represented a quantum leap from Windows 3.1, so too does IIS 7.0 from its predecessors. Totally rewritten, IIS 7.0 includes a new, secure by default, pluggable request processing stack which presents several breaking changes from IIS 6.0, as discussed at http://mvolo.com/blogs/serverside/archive/2007/12/08/IIS-7.0-Breaking-Changes-ASP.NET-2.0-applications-Integrated-mode.aspx. Most notably, passport authentication is no longer supported, and as Chapter 12 demonstrates, the new integrated authentication mode in IIS alters the way users are authenticated as well.

If you are migrating existing ASP.NET sites onto Vista or Windows Server 2008 from IIS 6.0 or earlier, beware.
