Nursing provides an interesting comparison to project management for several reasons. First, the issues and implications of the professionalization of nursing have been well studied in the nursing, medicine, and sociology literatures. This wealth of research provides an important history of the professionalization effort and provided the foundation issues identified in Chapter 2.
